Represent your country in... The Social Competition

Are you ready to represent your country in the best bachata social competition of Europe? If you win, you will be able to raise your nation’s flag in The Festival of Nations 2024 edition! 

The Social Competition at Bachata Geneva Festival will be in a Jack and Jill format, which means that you don’t need to join with a partner, as dancers will be matched up randomly.

Don’t miss it! The Social Competition is an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills and creativity. But the most important thing is that you will have fun!

How can I join? Registration

  • Registrations will open end of January by filling out a form
  • Only the first 60 leaders and 60 followers can join. Stay tuned in our Social Media!
  • If you have a full pass, the Social Competition registration is 5 EUR 
  • If you have a party pass, the Social Competition registration is 10 EUR 
  • If you want to watch the Social Competition, you can enter for free.
* Registrations after 16:00 won’t be accepted.
** Please, don’t forget to bring your ID card when picking up the dorsal.
 
 

What do I win? The Prizes

What is gonna be evaluated? Judging Criteria

  1. The Timing, the steps are in rhythm
  2. The Technique, quality of guidance, and cleanliness of the dance
  3. The Musicality, dance, and musical interpretation
  4. The Connection, the ability of the dancers to understand each other and have fun
  5. The Attitude & Styling, the individual interpretation and embellishment of the choreography

⚠️ Every dancer will be judged individually as a leader/follower

You have to respect... The Rules

  1. You have to be ready to compete 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the competition.
  2. You must hang your dorsal and it must be visible.
  3. No acrobatics above the shoulders.
  4. Respect the dancer. You should always use appropriate language.
  5. Everyone can join! No matter if you have teaching experience. 
  6. The most important rule is to… Have Fun!

How is the competition structured? The Format

Classification groups (Sunday 18:00 – 19:00)

  • There will be 3 groups composed of a maximum of 25 couples.
  • From each group, 10 couples will be chosen to go to the preliminaries.
  • 4-5 songs with different bachata styles will be played with partner switching

Preliminaries (Sunday 19:10 – 19:30)

  • The preliminaries are composed of 30 couples.
  • The best 15 couples will be classified into the semifinal.
  • 4 songs with different bachata styles will be played with partner switching

Semifinal (Sunday 19:40 – 20:00)

  • The semifinal is composed of 15 couples.
  • The best 6 couples will be classified into the final.
  • 4 songs with different bachata styles will be played with partner switching

Final (Sunday 23:00 – 23:30)

  • The final is composed of the best 6 couples.
  • 2 songs with different bachata styles will be played. Participants will switch with participants 
  • 3 songs with different bachata styles will be played. Participants will switch with judges (2 partner changes per song)
